So, for example, the winner of the 95 mph class will be the driver and navigator team who come closest to the time that it would take if you were able to cover the whole course at exactly 95 mph. From vast desert highways to twisty mountain roads, from gravel roads to dry river beds. The Big Bend Open Road Race is the common man’s Indy 500. Classes are divided by target speed, starting at 80 mph and going all the way up to 120 mph. Well Ladies and Gentlemen, its time for the 2019 Big Bend Open Road Race event YEE HAW as we say here in Texas. Open Road Racing events are competitive driving events measured by time, speed, and distance. This open road race brings an outrageous assortment of cars from all over the place to the Sandhills of Western Nebraska for one special weekend every year. This is open road race within a spirit of Cannonball races, as made famous in such movies like Gumball Rally and Cannonball 1 & 2. The winning car in each class will be as close as possible to the theoretical perfect time. Saturday is the big event, this one a race against the clock.
